Sony E3 Round Up

E3 SONY

E3 SONY

Today Sony got their turn on the big stage and many expected a lot of small announcements they already knew about. With a lot of SONY leaks this week, and a lot of big names being thrown around I think we got a good show, and a few nice surprises.

Sony began the show with the PSP and it’s new evolutions, the PSP GO, nothing huge as this has been known about (un-officially) on the web for weeks, but now it’s revealed, and ready to go. Following this we saw two major games announced for the system, Grand Turismo, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Both huge, and good looking for a PSP game, along with a large blast of PSP games (small snippets) shown revealing some games that we expected, and some raising questions (I thought I saw Fat Princess on PSP, yay).

Following this we were graced with the PS3’s news, we were blown away by the surprising new trailer of Final Fantasy XIII, we got a show from the developers of MAG actually letting us see 256 player at once, which still leaves me speechless. Not just this but we got a face full of many great snippets of other games, and one in particular that left me confused. ModNation Racing, why confused you ask? A racing game I actually want. It looks so good, the creation aspect we all loved in LBP with kart racing, it looks amazing.

The show ended on the note we all predicted, but regardless of the lack of surprise from this we all enjoyed God of War 3. Even though this was the Live gameply we all were so excited for I feel the comment made just before this on another innovative device deserves mention. Sony’s new motion controllers, the demo was brilliant, but seemed to be very similar to the Wii, and I’m sure this comparison will be made until they day I die.

With a great show under their belts, and leaving us with thought of brutal murder, and killer games. I know I’ll be sleeping easy, dreaming of custom race tracks in ModNation, ripping out spines in God of War 3, and hiding in a box!

I was really expecting a lot more from Sony and I think they ended up being a great disappointment. They really need to do better than this if they ever hope to move back up in rank. Microsoft wins E3, hands down, and Sony fails miserably. Nintendo’s just stuck there in the middle. I’m a fan of all three, but it’s obvious where everyone is in the food chain.

I’m curious as to why you say Sony failed miserably. To say so would mean that they got up there and did what Nintendo did last year which they didn’t!

They showed off a few of their blockbuster EXCLUSIVE titles and demoed them on stage. The tech demo for their motion control was awesome and very precise and looked more fluid and shows that Third Party developers will be able to start making some Next Gen graphics in games and still utilize motion controls that seemed almost identical to the Wii.

This could potentially cut into Nintendo’s market with the Wii, maybe not sales wise but if you think about it they can now have those third party Wii games on their system as well. Of course this is just ramblings but this is what could ultimately happen.

I have to agree with Damnightmare on this one because Sony didn’t even come close to failing at all! They showed a ton of games and yes most of which were exclusive, something M$ couldn’t even come close to matching. I own both PS3 and 360 and I went away from Sony’s conference more excited! Even Nintendo had a better lineup of exclusives!

I also agree that M$ is trying to bash into Nintendos success with the casual market directly with Natal, lame! PS3 will do a better job of doing that with their 1 to 1 PS3mote and if released by spring, sooner! That looked more precise than Wii Motion Plus!

So what really made Sony “fail”? Because from what I saw M$ was the lowest of the “food chain” for this years E3 press conference lineup.

What made Sony or Nintendo fail that bad that M$ automatically wins? My question still stands because instead of just saying like a greedy child with candy “M$ wins E3″ explain why? Nothing has convinced me they “won E3″ and I watched all 3 conferences.

    So Biased!

It’s funny calling mostly everything M$ showed “surprises” when we knew about most of them going into E3. The only thing that was of any surprise was Halo: Reach. That wasn’t even really a surprise to me seeing how they couldn’t just let their #1 fanchise and life support just go away.

Sony didn’t have any real surprises either but they did prove to me as a gamer they have the stronger future exclusive game lineup of the 2 consoles I own.

That’s because M$ didn’t show hardly any exclusives, they were packed full of 3rd party games which is fine but it’s as simple as that! Alan Wake looks good but is way to hyped for what it is. IMO the M$ press conference was the most Boring of all 3 shows. They had a pretty stage, i’ll give them that. I will be honestly bored with M$ this year and into next year! Kind of sad as I like my 360.

They didn’t impress me at all, they stole IPs from Sony and tried to directly hit at Nintendo with Natal. Oh maybe instantly stream HD content or even Facebook was the surprise? No. Wait I forgot internet radio. Yawn!
