Countdown timers are horrible. Often times the hype isn’t worth the pay off, especially when you sit there, constantly refreshing, while a half a million other people are doing the same. Most of my countdown timer experiences have been extremely negative. So, you can understand my grief when I saw Square Enix’s countdown timer, which started a few days ago.

Set to end on Sunday afternoon, the teaser site started out with the clock, the number 4, a hand drawn landscape, and a MIDI theme playing in the background. Over the past few days, a dragon and a boy with a sword have appeared. A lot of speculation has revolved around a possible new game in the SaGa series. Honestly, the art reminds me of the DS version of Final Fantasy III, but the music is not exactly Final Fantasy sounding. Either way, it’s all too much speculation for now.
