Our friends at Bethesda have been kind enough to sit down with us for an interview on the upcoming Fallout 3 DLC, Mothership Zeta. We talked with Jeff Gardiner, the lead producer of the Fallout 3 DLC. Find out what he has to say about the upcoming DLC.
We’ve heard Mothership Zeta is going to feature aliens. How exactly are aliens going to factor into the Fallout 3 universe?
Aliens have been hinted at, rumored and “Easter Egged” throughout the history of Fallout. In Fallout 3 seasoned explorers can find a crashed alien spaceship – in fact it’s there we decided to start our Mothership Zeta DLC.
Is this piece of DLC going to take place in space? If so how open will it be, wouldn’t it have to be more on the linear side?
Yes, the preponderance of Mothership Zeta occurs in space, aboard an Alien Ship in orbit around our planet. It is a confined space, but it’s quite large and allows for a lot of exploration and the quest space allows for non-linear exploration.
Will Mothership Zeta be open to all players or only people who have beat the main quest?
Mothership Zeta is open to all players once they’re left the vault – though getting to the remote area of the wasteland at a low level could prove to be difficult.
How many quests are in Mothership Zeta?
It includes one large, branching quest.
Can you give us a bit of information about the quests? What will our tasks be in the quests?
Mothership Zeta begins with the player being abducted and held captive aboard a huge Alien craft hovering high above the Earth. The player will have to escape the craft; along the way they’ll meet other captives, have to solve difficult puzzles and secure new high-tech weaponry to employ against their captors.

Will you be able to return to the space ship once you beat the main quest?
Yes, you can use the ship as a home-base of sorts. It sure has a great view!
Will Mothership Zeta feature any of the following: new achievements, perks, items or weapons?
All four in fact! There are four new achievements; new weapons include a Shock Baton, Alien Atomizer and Alien Disintegrator. Not to mention a new secret Heavy Weapon and cryo-grenades that freezes enemies. There’s also new clothing, armor, perks and of course the Aliens themselves.
Mothership Zeta is going to be the fifth piece of DLC for Fallout 3 correct? What is the major selling point of this DLC? Most players will have already put out money for four pieces so what is the major selling point of this piece of DLC?
Mothership Zeta is the fifth Fallout 3 DLC. It includes a large new quest line, including hours of gameplay, and lots of new weapons, items, achievements and perks hinted at above. It allows the player to explore a totally new and unique environment with their existing Fallout 3 character, and to bring back the goodies they find to the wasteland – where existing technology will now seem like child’s play. It’s a fun, polished and exciting experience for both veteran players and those new to our Downloadable Content.
Thanks for your time Jeff and good luck with the DLC

Awesome. I regret selling this game, I should have known Bethesda would release a bunch of downloadable content. I'm buying this game again and downloading everything for it. Awesome game, and so was Oblivion. xD

Don't do that, in October they are going to release a game of the year with all the DLC, and the game for 60, if you bought the game now and got the DLC you will have wasted 50$

So is it going to be like point lookout? With like 5 story quests and then like 5 other quests? How big is it going to be? Point lookout was not a 5th of the size of the Regular map

Fist you picked a stupid name. Second Yeah it was the original map had like 125 locations. Point lookout had 30 or 29 (it doesn't matter) It still is over a fifth of the map. Did you not read the thing above he said that there will only be a huge quest line. So I'm guessing about 8 story quests with other unmarked quest that you can do.

It will be on a card. Then you type the number on the back of the card to redeem it. Then it automatically starts downloading the add-on for you.(like point lookout)

Mothership Zeta was too short. I want more DLC’s please! Like, make a DLC where you have to swim in a ocean and you find an ancient underwater civilization. =D
