Now I know what you’re thinking, this is some kind of a rant about how amazingly, awesome us Allies are by kicking the pantyhose of the ‘Ger(ry)mans’ in World War 2 and how we are reminded of it every year or so by our buddies at Activision and Treyarch. However this is more of a complaint by a rather easily annoyed gamer, who believes everyone should have the right to play his or her games…(even personality stricken people like the Germans)

According to Kotaku 16 interior ministers met in early June to discuss the proposal brought forward to ban the distribution and/or production of games “where the main part is to realistically play the killing of people or other cruel or un-human acts of violence against humans or manlike characters.” They are hoping to put through this proposal by sometime in September.

Now this is bad enough for the German people as a whole, but the fact that Crytek, the masterminds behind the Far Cry and Crysis series, are basically going to have to move from their native Germany to another European country for the sake of some ridiculous bill is insane. Why should this obviously talented developer have to move their studios at the loss of God knows how many thousands of Euros (yes that’s the currency in most of Europe ladies and gentlemen, world order here we come) because some prats in government think video games make people go nuts and kill people.

Now allow me to be just one bit controversial here; Germans are like any other bloody nation on earth okay? I am not German; I wish not to be German (considering the oh-so-bloody pleasant history they have) however I DO NOT see why the younger German population should have to pay for their ancestors mistakes. Maybe this is being too presumptious of me, but I do not see why they think that because the younger generation of Germans will be exposed to video games that this will unleash a whole generation of pshycopaths, lunatics and dare I say the Third Reich part two.

People shoot, kill, rape and molest each other more because of the types of people they are, the way they were brought up or how single-minded their tiny brains tend to be, not because they saw “hitman” run into some guy and fart him up with a screwdriver. It’s this reoccurring case of how divided the older generation appear to be from the young and shows how humans in general never learn ANYTHING. They are scared of what they don’t know about, or what they can’t control. This is just another example of how these people have no idea about the world we live in works and instead of attempting to understand it, throw out some bill to get rid of it.

I for one am for any bill that makes sense and helps the world be a better place (hah, as if) however bills like this just make me laugh and I for one feel deeply sorry to Crytek and the entire German nation, that they must suffer such stupidity from their government officials.

*Sigh* off to Call of Duty: World at War I go…oh wait..
