According to Crytek UK’s “unofficial blog”, which does run on the companies website, TimeSplitters 4 may not come to existence any time soon. This is very unfortunate for those like us enjoyed the days upon days of playing the franchise on the original Xbox. They have announced that they are working on an unannounced original first person shooter. Which Karl Hilton says will have multiplayer and single player quality like what was found in the TimeSplitters series. As said before, “This could possibly be bad news for the future of TimeSplitters 4 as new ideas are being put forward while TimeSplitters 4 is being left behind.”

The company is asking gamers to show their commitment and enthusiasm for the TimeSplitters series. “If developers had free reign with the CryEngine, they would easily be able to produce really bizarre, wacky wonderful stuff.”, said Karl Hilton the Managing Director of Crytek UK. There is always hope though, when Hilton did say, “If the time comes, if there is a demand for that type of game, I’m confident we’d be ready for it.” That is exactly what Crytek wants to see, an interest and demand for the game, so if you have ever played any of the games, now would be the time to show your support.

This all came about when Free Radical Design was closed unexpectedly last year. Employees reportedly showed up for work, and the doors were locked, never to be opened again. Around a month or so later, Crytek bought Free Radical, renamed it Crytek UK, and the studio still works out of Nottingham, England.

Free Radical Design was also responsible for the Star Wars: Battlefront series, the future of which looks worse than the TimeSplitters series.
