The guessing game is over with news breaking that Final Fantasy XIII is scheduled for release in Europe and North America on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, March 9, 2010.
In a video posted today, Producer Yoshinori Kitase talks about how the development team used new tools at their disposal to bring their vision Pulse, the world in which the game is based, to life using HD technology. While visually stunning, the game will combine the emotions of the characters within the game with moving music to reinforce the plot’s themes. In doing so, Square hopes to deliver an experience new to the series.

Also within the video post, Battle Director Yuji Abe talks about the new battle system focusing on a new feature called Paradigm Shift, which will directly affect a player’s strategy within the battle in real time. New gameplay footage is also shown, with some dazzling visuals showing battles, cut-scenes and the ever-popular method of transportation — the Chocobo.
Japan will be receiving the title a little earlier, with a release date slated for December 17, 2009. So, unless you’re importing the title, there are four months of waiting ahead of you, which is plenty of time to get ready for what might be the most eagerly anticipated game of this generation.
G3 will contue to update with info on Final Fantasy XIII leading up to its release.
