World of Warcraft, the MMORPG from Blizzard, has reached its fifth anniversary. Launched on November 23rd, 2004, the game takes place in the same world as the popular Warcraft series, which also got a bit older, reaching its fifteenth anniversary on the same day.

To celebrate, all players receive a special in-game pet and an achievement. Blizzard has also promised more events to be had during the week. Also happening right now is the Pilgrim’s Bounty, a holiday based on Thanksgiving.

With over 11 million subsribers, World of Warcraft has become the world’s largest subscription based MMORPG. When it was first released, it was widely regarded by experienced MMO players because of its polish and massive environments.
