The 12th Annual Independent Games Festival Awards aired last night, before the Game Developers Choice Awards. Hosted at the Game Developers Conference, the IGF Awards specifically showcase the work of aspiring or small-time, independent game developers.
This year was the biggest IGF yet, with 306 entries in the main competition, 172 entries in the student showcase, and 170 entries in the mobile division. A total of $50,000 in prize money was given out to the winners.
The French heist-inspired, 4-player co-op game Monaco took away the $20,000 Seumas McNally Grand Prize Award, also winning for Excellence in Design. Meanwhile, the hauntingly beautiful and monochromatic Limbo took two awards, for Technical Excellence and Excellence in Visual Art.
