For those of you wanting some more Modern Warfare 2 content, be prepared to open up your wallets. Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling revealed the first details on the “Stimulus Pack” on Larry Hyrb’s podcast, revealing that the five maps, two of which are simply ported from Call of Duty 4, will cost an astonishing 1200 Microsoft Points, which equates to $15. $3 for each map if you want to get technical, and two of those can be accessed by simply playing the previous edition of the series. It’s amazing what they can get away with just because they have a large fan base. In related news, I’ll be out $15 because I’m gullible like the rest of the MW2 fan base. Expect the pack out on March 30th for the 360 and later unspecified dates for the PC and PS3.

It’s a bit of a shame this doesn’t include new spec-ops content, but I’m still buying it at 1200 points, and it’s really not the giant rip-off that many are making it out to be.
COD4 maps – four maps – 800 points – best deal of all examples
WaW maps – three standard maps and one zombie map – 800 points – good deal if you like Nazi Zombies, but worse than MW2 maps if you don’t
Halo 3 maps – three maps – 800 points – 33 cents per-map MORE than the MW2 maps
Gears of War 2 maps – three maps – 800 points – 33 cents per-map MORE than the MW2 maps
Killzone 2 – two maps – six dollars US – the same per-map as MW2 maps
People see 1200 points on anything in the marketplace and they just freak out, but if they’ve ever bought maps for Halo 3, Gears 2 or Killzone 2, they really have nothing to complain about.
If this were 800 points and included two new maps, one classic map, and a new spec-ops mission made from recycled single player content, people would be getting less for their money, and nowhere near as many people would be complaining.
