Reported by Reuters, the demand for Kinect has now caused Microsoft to change original estimations for this holiday. Kinect, which launches today, originally had projections to sell 3 million units during this holiday season, but Microsoft’s Don Mattrick now predicts sales upwards of 5 million and $750 million in revenue this quarter.
“Presales have exceeded expectations,” said Mattrick in Reuters’ interview. “People are coming to us and saying this is must-have holiday item.”
Mattrick continues on potential Kinect shortages:
“We’re anticipating that some of our partners will be sold out at points of time this holiday, and that’s something we’ll do our best to work through,” he said.
Whether or not the hardcore base are excited about Kinect, it’s apparent that Microsoft Kinect will have a extremely healthy holiday season. Stay tuned for more information on Kinect’s actual sales.
