Overgrowth – Alpha Video Showcase

Back in 2008 indie developer Wolfire Games announced Overgrowth, the sequel to the critically acclaimed action cross-platformer, Lugaru: The Rabbits Foot (2005).  Any PC, Mac, or Linux gamers out there should remember playing or hearing about Lugaru which featured Turner, an anthropomorphic martial arts rabbit with an insatiable thirst for revenge.

Overgrowth’s plot takes place a few years after the events of Lugaru, however in real-time the sequel isn’t showing any early signs of reaching post-production anytime soon.  A great deal of the time constraint has much to do with the fact that Wolfire consists of about five individuals [to date].

For that fact alone, the team at Wolfire are overly dedicated to providing their hardcore Lugaru fans with a title that meets and exceeds it’s predecessor, and to top it all off; Overgrowth will ship with a fully featured level editor.

Each week the programmers at Wolfire have released Alpha videos containing the progression of Overgrowth.  Anyone that has pre-ordered it will be able apply the changes (as they come out) to their alpha versions via the in-game editor. The videos at times can be pretty extensive, but for the most part they’re about a few minutes long; sometimes narrated by Wolfire creator and programmer, David Rosen himself.

As we’re coming closer to it’s release which is still TBA, G3 will showcase the weekly Alpha videos for your perusing pleasure. So until then, enjoy these alpha videos from the past three weeks.

I hope the gameplay will be as good as its visuals. I know it gets a lot of praise, but I thought Lugaru was so boring.

I’ve always wondered about Lugaru; never played it, but I was definitely intrigued by the way it looked.
