If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get a 3DS by the end of the year, we’ve got two great reasons right here: Super Mario 3D Land (previously thought to be called Super Mario 3LanD) and Mario Kart 7 have finally been given their official release dates today. Mario fanatics all around the world will be happy to know that both games will release this year, one right after the other, just in time to placed at the top of your Christmas wishlist. According to the latest press release, Super Mario 3D Land will release on November 3 in Japan, November 13 in North America, and November 18 in Europe. Mario Kart 7 will release on December 2 in Europe, December 4 in North America, and December 7 in Japan. I can’t say I understand why one comes out first in Japan while the other comes out first in Europe, but quite frankly, I don’t really care. All that matters is that both games will be in my grubby fat hands very soon and I couldn’t be happier.
Additionally, Nintendo reveals some interesting features in the UK press release:
Super Mario™ 3D Land™ makes its debut in Europe on Nintendo 3DS on 18th November. In this first-ever true 3D Mario platforming adventure, players can scout levels and find secrets before they play using the built-in gyro sensor feature of the Nintendo 3DS system. The game will feature propeller blocks and will have StreetPass functionality. Mario Kart™ 7 will be available on 2nd December and will include a new optional first-person driving mode that is controlled using the gyro sensor. The game also introduces new playable characters like Lakitu and Metal Mario, and a tricks system like the one in Mario Kart ™ Wii . More details about both games will be announced in the future.
Also, it may be worth noting that The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition will be made available via DSiWare and the 3DS eShop on September 28 and will remain there until February 20, 2012.
