Man, doesn’t it seem like it was just yesterday that the world map for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was leaked and a couple days before that the Achievements were leaked as well. If I didn’t know any better I would think that Bethesda is releasing this stuff just to make us want Skyrim even more…Like that’s even possible.
With the photos below being leaked onto the internet we get a look into what, for the most part we already know about the game from the development team telling us and what we’ve seen in the gameplay footage. But there are a few things that stand out as new information to me.
First off there is the shot that tells you about cooking, now cooking may not seem like a big deal, especially if you played Fallout: New Vegas (which wasn’t developed by Bethesda mind you.) But it is a new feature to the Elder Scrolls series. For as long as I can remember the only way to get the realism of catching game or picking shrubs and whatnot and then cook it was to get a mod from the enormous modding community for the Elder Scrolls games. This is just another small feature that Bethesda has implemented into the game thanks to their ability to actually listen to their fans (take notice Developers.)
The second feature that caught my eye is the return of the companions. Now if you played the expansion packs for Morrowind then you’ve already dealt with companions, but let’s face it the A.I. in Morrowind was horrendous at best. With this bit of information I will finally get to bring my very own Sam with me on my adventures around Skyrim (yes that was a Lord of The Rings reference, don’t judge me.) From how it looks in the manual the system seems quite simple, hold “A” and a system which seems to me will be built quite a bit like the Rainbow Six games, specifically Rainbow Six: Vegas will come up to select your commands for said companion.
Whether this manual turns out to be real or fake, it has already got me even more ecstatic for the release of my most anticipated game since, well since the last Elder Scrolls release. If you would like more Elder Scrolls and Skyrim news check back each day. I will be covering all things Elder Scrolls up until the release night of Skyrim.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is due out November 11th, 2011 on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
