And now for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Awesome List Part Two!!
-6- The all new Radiant Story engine. Long gone are the days of when you could accidentally kill an NPC and screw yourself from being able to do a certain side-quest. Instead Bethesda has come up with the ingenious idea to completely alter the way these side-quests flow. If you kill the NPC that starts a quest, that quest will in some logical way be transferred to a different NPC for you to pick up. How awesome is that.
-7- When Bethesda announced that you’d be able to drop you loot and the townsfolk would fight over it I instantly pictured throwing a Septim between two beggars and watching them FIGHT TO THE DEATH OVER IT, HAHAHA. Really though I think this really helps to emerge you in the game world more than dropping a shit-ton of loot on the ground watching the city folk stare at it for a moment, then walk away like it is completely normal.
-8- How awesome was the beginning of Oblivion. You know, before you realized that there was only 8 voice actors in total working on that game… That was one of my biggest gripes with Oblivion was the fact that you heard the same voices over, and over again throughout your entire playthrough. That has been remedied by Bethesda by bringing in a lot more voice actors. We’re not talking just voices people, we’re talking real actors. Ever heard of Christopher Plummer, no? go watch The Last Station. How about Joan Allen? No seriously.. Go watch The Contender. Now I know you’ve heard of Max von Sydow.. NO?! *Gasps!* Go watch The Exorcist right now, seriously, stop reading this and go now…
-9- Another generic part of Oblivion has been fixed by Bethesda and that is the dungeons. Yes you know, there was like 5 different dungeon types total in Oblivion. Bethesda has fixed this problem by putting together a team entirely dedicated to making dungeons for our killing pleasure. Sweet.
-10- DUAL WIELDING. Come on you know this one was coming. There is no way I can leave out dual wielding, it was the thing that I’ve always disliked the most about Elder Scrolls games, the lack of dual wielding. But now alas after 9 years of Elder Scrolls bliss, Bethesda is finally giving us Dual Wielding. I’m so excited I might just burst into dance.*Bursts into dance..* Ahem, sorry about that. The ability to not only dual wield weapons, but also dual wield spells that when cast with both hands creates a stronger version or a mixed version of the two spells equipped is just so awesome. “You Shall Not Pass!”
As you can see these are just a few of the reasons to be excited for the awesomeness that is Skyrim. For more news on Skyrim please check my other postings. And check back tomorrow for my article on my Top 10 Mods for Oblivion and on Saturday for my Top 10 Mods for Morrowind lists. Thank You.
