Skyrim Flying Off The Shelves

It may come as no surprise to those of you who have played it, but apparently The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a hot commodity.

Tens of thousands of eager Elder Scrolls fans lined up outside retailers world wide on 11/11/11 to purchase arguably one of the most anticipated games of the decade – granted we’re not very far into this decade. Having already shipped over 7 million units of Skyrim for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC the general consensus so far has been stellar. This statement is not only backed up by the numerous awards and perfect scores Skyrim is receiving, but also the statistics that show over 50% of the initial shipping units (more than 3.5 Million) were sold in the first 48 hours of the title launch.

These statistics do not even include digital distributors such as Steam, who reported that in the first 24 hours they had over 280,000 concurrent players playing Skyrim. In case you were wondering, that’s a helluva lot more than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

“Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever,” said Todd Howard, Game Director on Skyrim. “After over three years of development, we’re finally excited to get it into everyone’s hands.”

I have to agree with you Todd, this is by far the most ambitious Elder Scrolls title yet. (which is saying a lot) Whether Skyrim will go down in gaming history as one of the greatest RPG’s to ever grace the PC or Consoles is yet to be seen, one this is certain though. Critics love it, Fans love it, and I love it. ‘Nuff said.
