Hey guys, did you miss me? Well after a catastrophic computer failure I am finally back in action. And to commemorate my return to action I present to you a nice little review on a nice little product. The HIS Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter.
Starting off with the front of the box, you can see this is again a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter that is both PC AND Mac compatible which is always nice. Moving to the back they break down the features that this adapter has.
- No Drivers Needed
- Supports Resolutions Up To 1920×1200
- 2 Channel Audio Support
- Compliant With HDMI 1.3a
As well as the Quick Installation Guide. (which is not really needed, it’s plug and play)
Moving on to the adapter itself, you can see the adapter comes in an understated glossy white. As well it’s roughly 8.5″ long from female to male end. The cable though quite thick is very malleable, which makes for positioning this adapter in an easily accessible spot possible.

Here you can take a quick look at both ends before we move on to the important part. How it actually performs! First the Female HDMI end that requires an HDMI to HDMI (or DVI) cable (not included) to plug into either another monitor or TV of your choice. Second the Male Mini DisplayPort end that plugs into your Video Card or Laptop.
There’s not a whole lot to say about testing a product like this. I took it out to my living room and plugged the adapter into my 60″ 1080p LG Plasma, and then watched Inception on Blu Ray. The picture quality is everything you would expect from a more expensive HDMI to HDMI cable, the picture was crisp and bright. Not all the colors seemed to be reproduced 100% faithfully, but that could also be the calibration differences between my television and PC. The audio was equally exceptional. (albeit 2 channel) If you don’t own or care about surround sound, then the 2 channel audio reproduced by this adapter will be perfect for you.
Overall there are not a lot of high quality Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Adapters available on the market, so when a trusted brand such as HIS releases a product like this it helps bring some peace of mind to the consumer on which brand to choose. Everything about this adapter is very good. The picture quality was excellent and the audio was exceptional enough. Coming in at a whopping $17.99 it’s not the cheapest adapter available, but you’re mostly paying for the quality of a trusted and dependable brand.

Please note that though this adapter ONLY received a bronze award it is not a sign of a poor product. In reality, compared across the board with other adapters this is going to rank right at the very top. The bronze award is simply the most logical fit for a product like this. Unless I receive an adapter that does back flips and cooks me dinner, a Bronze Award is the best an adapter can receive (It’s a VERY GOOD product) ^_^
