As if Activision wasn’t already nickel-and-diming us enough. They’ve announced today that they plan to produce even MORE DLC and move it out to us, the consumer, at an even faster rate. That’s right folks, open up your checkbook and empty your bank accounts, Activision is here to collect.
For those of you who actually look forward to more content for Modern Warfare 3. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg recently said in an interview with Wired, that Activision now sees Modern Warfare 3 as a “persistent” franchise, played and updated constantly throughout the year.
He also went on to state “The idea of giving people constant incremental playable content and making it so you’re never more than a few weeks away from the next new experience within the Call of Duty universe is part of what we’re experimenting with…. This franchise doesn’t really behave like most franchises. It’s become something of a year-round activity for a large percentage of our player population.”
Whether this new direction by Activision will equate out to smaller DLC packs being pumped out more frequently has yet to be seen. Either way, really the best thing to do at this point in time is to subscribe to Activision’s Call of Duty Elite service with an annual fee of $50, which nets you all the DLC free of charge.
