The timeless adventure/platformer Dragon’s Lair will be made available on Xbox live in the near future. The PlayXBLA website announced that the game, originally released in 1983 on Laserdisc, will be coming to the Xbox Live arcade and will be compatible with Kinect controls.
Dragon’s Lair has already been ported to mobile versions on the iPhone and Android markets, causing a resurgence in popularity as fans of the original game and new fans alike can relive the adventures of Dirk the Daring. The added element of using Kinect’s motion controls to guide Dirk seem like a natural fit; guiding Dirk’s actions with a player’s own movements would more fully engross him or her in the action. Though Microsoft has had some trouble finding games that fit well with the Kinect system, it seems that they have unearthed some hidden potential with this planned port of Dragon’s Lair.
There is no release date yet, but fans of Dirk, and fans of Kinect, will want to keep an eye out for this one.
