Well, it sure didn’t take long for hackers to start ruining the fun for the millions of gamers playing the newly released Diablo III. Being somebody who has dealt with hackers and thieves on several occasions during my escapades of World of Warcraft, I know first-hand how much you just want to junk-punch somebody who steals all your stuff in a Video Game. The reports of account hacks are getting more and more numerous, including one from a Eurogamer reporter.
So far all Blizzard has had to say about it is, “we are very aware of these reports and are taking them very seriously.” Let’s hope that’s the case because the Blizzard Forums are blowing up with threads from people all over the world complaining about there accounts being hacked, and all of their gold/stuff missing.
There are a boat-load of theories floating around the internet about how this happened, but until we have some sort of substantial proof on any of these theories, I’m not going to bother reporting on them. For now, change your password, and please for the love of all that is virtual, grab yourself Blizzard’s Authenticator.
