Yesterday Valve announced their new project for their digital distribution service named “Greenlight.” Steam has always sold most of the games we want to see come to the service, and most people have been happy with their decisions.

Apparently Valve has not had quite as great of a time deciding on every smaller company’s game, however, they did roll out their Steam Workshop platform last year. The Workshop allows users to create mods for supporting game, using Steam to automatically install and update. Building upon this platform; Greenlight allows any developer to post media and grow the buzzvine anytime during the development process. Steam users will then view, vote, downvote, and discuss any of the projects listed. Obtaining enough buzz could send you straight to the Steam store, which millions (including myself) see that front page everyday when signing into Steam.

Greenlight will come to the Steam community August 30th.
