Some sad news out of the video game publishing industry today as we have learned that long time staple in the video gaming magazine world ‘Nintendo Power’ will be ceasing publication after 24 years. Nintendo has announced that it will not be renewing it’s contract with Future Publishing, the company responsible for publishing the magazine since it’s inception. Poor sales were cited as the source of the split, as more and more readers turn to the digital medium for their gaming news.
‘Nintendo Power’ was a Nintendo exclusive magazine that catered to everything italian plumber. The magazine boasted reviews, cheats, posters and the lastest news on anything and everything Nintendo.
‘Nintendo Power’ is the second major gaming magazine to close up shop recently, with Gamepro ceasing physical production last winter. The digital medium is proving to be too much for traditional gaming magazines and the future of the industry looks to be shifting completely to digital distribution.
